Curriculum 课程设置
OCS teaches Mandarin with Pinyin and simplified characters, provides many courses to meet the special needs for children whose mother tongue is not Chinese. Starting with basic knowledge of Chinese pinyin, strokes, etc., strengthen daily oral practice and Chinese character recognition. Meanwhile, OCS
aims to further spread excellent Chinese culture to the local Americans.
OCS selects a series of textbooks “Chinese” as the main textbooks. This series is specially written for children in America and Europe to learn Chinese.
Our course is divided into 3 levels: beginner, intermediate and senior class.
| Beginner初级 (Grade 1 & Grade 2) | Study the basic knowledge on Chinese: Pinyin, strokes, character writing, etc. | – character and phrase recognition – simple sentence forming – basic oral practice |
| Intermediate 中级 (Grade 3 – Grade 5) | Further study and review the basic knowledge on Chinese: Pinyin, strokes, more characters and collocations, etc. | – enlarge vocabulary, phrase & sentence – introduce basic Chinese writing skills – more oral practice – learn some Chinese culture |
| Senior Class 高级 (Grade 6 and higher) | Continue characters and collocations recognition. Focus on writing and reading with some techniques. | – be able to read and understand longer articles – be able to write a complete and well-organized essay on a given topic in clear and fluent Chinese – learn basic speech skills – further study more Chinese culture |
